Event Details
Join us for an all-day workshop for area professionals discussing new approaches for addiction recovery & intervention. With special guests from Gosnold & Seabrook House and the Dr. OZ Show's Interventionist Brad Lamm. This event is not to be missed.
NASW has approved 4.5 contact hours for social workers + 5.0 CEUs through the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) will be offered (approval pending) - continental breakfast & lunch will be provided. This is a free event.
Workshop Highlights:
I. "Engaging Families: A Strength Based Approach in Addiction Treatment" - Shelley Stormo, M.A., LMFT, Director of Gosnold Family Services & Holly Carroll, CAC, Certified Interventionist
This training will utilize case studies and genograms to identify intrinsic family strengths, outline the ARISE model of family engagement and provide techniques to work with families impacted by addiction. We will also outline a typical course of treatment for an addicted family system entering the Gosnold continuum of care and the many benefits of Family Informed treatment and Family Recovery
II. “Co-Addicted Family Systems” - Eddie Luker, MA / Family Program Director, Seabrook House
The idea of addiction being a "Family Disease" is often lost on those affected by an addicted loved one. Taking that notion and mining it in a powerful new way, Eddie's presentation on "Co-Addicted Family Systems" unlocks the mysteries so many clinicians bump up against with concerned others.
Eddie explores the variety of ways addiction impacts family balance, and how families can begin change through highlighting understandable, and compelling case studies and research.
III. "How to Intervene & Help Someone You Love" - Brad Lamm, BR-I / Intervention Specialists
Brad discusses his Invitation to Change method of intervention and uses case studies and clips from his televised interventions on The Today Show & The Dr. OZ Show to illustrate how to help families recover; we have to put old addiction myths in the scrap heap with the dinosaurs.
Brad is an author, educator and interventionist best known for helping people make life-enhancing change on The Dr. OZ Show, using his “invitational” intervention method whereby the loved one is invited to his or her own intervention. He created and produced the docu-series “Addicted to Food” on OWN (The Oprah Winfrey Network).
His presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
We will also be drawing names to win raffle prizes, including copies of Brad's books:
- How to Help the One You Love: A New Way to Intervene
- JUST 10 LBS: Easy Steps to Weighing What You Want
